World Urban Youth Assembly 4 , WUF6 World Urban Youth Assembly

The World Urban Forum (WUF) was established by the United Nations to examine one of the most pressing problems facing the world today- rapid urbanization and its impact on communities, cities, economies, climate change and policies. The holding of the Youth Assembly early in the programme of WUF 6 provided youth the opportunity to deliberate on issues of particular significance to them including safety, employment, job creation, access to basic services, climate change and green jobs and governance.

The discussions also highlighted the potential areas of youth contribution in the context of the theme of the main forum “The Urban Future”. The speakers included youth, members of the UN-Habitat Youth Advisory Board  and specialists from the Academia/Research, Inter-governmental organization, Local government, National Government, United Nations, Nongovernmental organization, Private Sector, and Foundations from Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, Latin American/Caribbean, and Oceania. The WUF6 Youth Statement  highlighted the important contributions of young people in education, climate change, and employment and land issues in urban areas.
